Yosquia<\/strong> is a digital space dedicated to learning, experimentation, and critical engagement. The site hosts interactive educational resources created by Juan Carlos Saravia Vargas<\/strong> and Jos\u00e9 Roberto Saravia Vargas<\/strong>, academics at the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR)<\/strong>, whose work explores innovative ways of teaching literature and fostering learning and knowledge production in higher education.<\/p>\n

The Academics Behind the Project<\/h3>\n

Juan Carlos Saravia Vargas<\/strong>
Juan Carlos Saravia is an English literature professor, poet, and fiction writer. As a poet, he likes to explore existentialism in the information age. He writes short stories and flash fiction, and some of his short stories have been part of different anthologies. He also writes scholarly articles on a variety of topics that include Japanese culture, free\/open-source software, theater, and children’ s literature. He coordinated the research projects \u201cViolence as an Agent for Preserving Social Stability: A Comparative Analysis of Human Hunts in Contemporary Cinema and Fiction,\u201d<\/strong> \u201cTrapped in the Dark: The Presence of Children in Gothic Literary Texts, Movies, and Video Games,\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> and \u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>ormented Minds<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>: <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>The Representation of Mental Illness of Children and Teenagers in <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Literary Texts, Movies, and Video Games.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Roberto Saravia Vargas<\/strong>
Jos\u00e9 Roberto Saravia Vargas <\/span>is an English literature professor, researcher, and fiction writer. His published fiction works include<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>: <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Segmentos en la vida de un monstruo y otras historias fant\u00e1sticas <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>(2014), <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Detective QR y el adorno desaparecido<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> (2016) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>and<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> Los engranajes del tiempo <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>(2018). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Among his literary interests are m<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>ythical creatures and the impact of new technologies on human existence<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>He also writes scholarly articles about literature, English and Japanese teaching, and technology, in special free software.
